Madge "Maggie" Matz

On Sunday evening, December 16, 2018 surrounded by her children, Madge “Maggie” Matz peacefully passed away at her home in Arbor Vitae. Maggie was born in Green Bay, WI on May 20th, 1934. When she was young her parents relocated to Minocqua WI. She graduated from Minocqua High School in 1952. Maggie worked many years as an accountant at Bob Matz Motors, and then finished her career at Howard Young Medical Center working in patient accounting until retiring at the age of 74. Maggie was an avid bowler, crossword puzzle player, and “Jeopardy” fan. She truly loved her Green Bay Packers, often requiring a welfare check from family after the game. She loved her family, friends and neighbors, her Shih Tzu “Mei Ling”, all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and grand “pets”. She will be best remembered for her sense of humor, generosity, fun loving personality and excitement when her numbers came up as winners. She loved to travel with family and zip-lined at the age of 70. Maggie is preceeded in death by the father of her four children, Robert S. Matz, Sr., her beloved brothers-in-law Barry L. Matz and Gerald Connell, and parents Albert and Mildred Riebe. Those left to honor her memory and sense of humor include her sister, Joanne Connell, Children, Deborah (Phillip) Karow, Robin (Robert) Stippich, Wendy (Todd) Hunter and Robert (Linda) Matz. Seven grandchildren Nathan (Kristine) Karow, Carrie (Dave) Newmoyer, Jennifer (Matt) Seifert, Gregory Hunter, Jordan Hunter, Ethan Matz, Tori Matz., and four Great Grandchildren. A special thank you and extreme appreciation to Maggie’s close friends and Ascension Home Hospice that helped our family keep Maggie home and allowed her to pass in comfort. Finally, thank you to Maggie’s caregivers at the Howard Young Medical Center and Marshfield Clinic Minocqua Center. We are very thankful for the care provided over the recent past. Special thanks to Dr. Mark Rassier for his sincere care of our mother. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Bolger Funeral Home - Minocqua Chapel, followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Ascension Home Hospice.
