Lois Gardner

Lois Gardner of St. Germain, formerly of Naperville, IL died Thursday, November 7, 2013. She was 78. Lois was born in Chicago on March 20, 1935, to Eva and William Cleveland. She was an only child. She married husband Jack Gardner on September 20, 1955. She attended Northwestern University, Chicago and received her Masters Degree in Education from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, IL. Lois taught business education at Waubonsee Valley High School in Aurora, Illinois for 15 years and she served as a substitute teacher for the Northland Pines School District. Lois, Jack and family spent many summers at Lynn Ann Campground on Big St. Germain Lake. In 1989, Lois and Jack decided to move to St. Germain to enjoy their retirement years in the North Woods among their many friends. Lois was a member of St. Germain’s Community United Church of Christ, and sang in the church choir. She was active in many organizations, including: Women’s Service Club, Fish and Wildlife Club, BoBoen Snowmobile Club, The Prime Timers, St. Germain Women’s Golf Club, St. Germain Couples Golf Club, and Friends of the Plum Lake Library in Sayner, Wisconsin. Survivors include Lois’ husband Jack, son Robert J. Gardner (Bob), daughter Laura L. Hois, and David J. Gardner (Dave), and her grandchildren: Dr. Erin Werhun, Heather Gardner, Jenny Hois, and Reed Hois. Grandaughter Rachael Hois, whose Christmas tree is displayed at the UCC church, passed away in 2003. Lois was well loved and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. We will hold her loving, generous spirit dear to our hearts, and will never forget how good she was in every way. All friends of Lois are invited to attend a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Community United Church of Christ, 1315 State Highway 155, St. Germain, WI, 54558. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the UCC church, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Lunch for family and friends will follow the service, at 12:00 p.m. at the church.
