James F. Chapman, Jr.

James F. Chapman, Jr. 75, of Lac du Flambeau, passed away on February 20th, 2019, at Avanti of Minocqua, from natural causes. He was born on February 7th, 1944, in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, the son of the late James F. Chapman, Sr and Violet (Wildcat) Chapman. He married the love of his life, Germaine K. St. Germaine, on March 10th, 1969, and they were happily married for 47 years. They had three children, James F Chapman III, Michelle (John) Young and Lynn Chapman. Jim was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1961-1965. He worked for the LdF Tribe and Lake of the Torches Casino for many years. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, pow wows, the Green Bay Packers and attending numerous sports-related activities of his grandchildren. Jim also coached successful Little League and Pony League teams. He continued to coach baseball for his grandchildren. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Gerri K. Chapman, parents, James and Violet Chapman, his brother, David Chapman Sr., and his sisters Judy Smallish, Cheryl St. Germaine, Cecille Young, and Michelle Chapman, and his father and mother-in-law, James and Lila St. Germaine. Jim was survived by his children James III, Michelle (John) and Lynn. He was further survived by sisters Pamela Chapman, Sheila Hagen and Lisa Soulier and brothers Daryl Chapman Sr., Scott Chapman Sr., Donavon Chapman. Jim was the beloved grandfather of James (Dasha) IV, Jennifer, Justin, Joseph and Jayden Chapman, Ryan, Jared (Shawny), Desmond, Thalia, and Taryn Young, Zachary Jr., and Kailia Sunn, Derik Chapman, and Lanae Chapman, and beloved Great-grandfather to James Chapman V, Jillian Young, Jared Young Jr. and Joy Chapman. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special thank you to Greg Johnson, Tweetie Thompson, Dr. Adrienne Laverdure, PCHC Staff and Community Health, Ascension Hospice Care, nursing staff at Avanti in Minocqua, Bolger Funeral Home, Paul St. Germaine and staff from Clinic Transportation Program. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 22nd, at the Multi-Purpose Building in Lac du Flambeau, at 3:00P.M. for family, and starting at 4:00P.M. for friends of the family. A Prayer Service will take place at 7:00P.M. Funeral services will be held at 11:00A.M. on Saturday, February 23rd, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Lac du Flambeau, followed by interment at Memorial Cemetery.
