Gary M. Wilburth

Gary Wilburth, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Mercer, WI on January 25, 2025 at the age of 73. He was born on July 15, 1951 to Melvin and Viola Wilburth. Gary's life was marked by his deep love for his family, his passion for the outdoors, and his service to his country. Gary is survived by his devoted wife, Kathleen Wilburth, and their daughter, Rochelle Gamauf (husband Jim). He was a proud grandfather to Justin Gamauf (Lauren Ashley), Melody Rose Celesta, Kyle Gamauf, and Megan Gamauf,.Gary’s siblings included his brother, Daniel (Chris) Wilburth and his sister Dawn Meyer. Sisters-in-law Noreen (Ross) Chessman and Cheryl (Dan) Schnese. He also leaves behind a large extended family, including nieces Vicki Wilburth (Dustin) (children Ryan and Ashley), Rebecca (Nick) Metts (son Everett), Julie (Josh) Drummond, Kate Meyer, Betsy (Tony) Sardina, Cathy Orton, and Melissa Nowak (Ben) (children Andriana (Bruce), Shanticia, Bellalina and Enrique), as well as nephews Robert (Angie) Chessman, Ben Nowak (with his children Wynter, Bentley, Avril, Lincoln, and Jake), and Brian (Cathy) Rusk and family. Gary was preceded in death by his dad Melvin Wilburth, son David Wilburth, nephew Paul Wilburth, Norb and Betty Rusk and brother-in-law James Rusk. A proud U.S. Marine, Gary served in Vietnam, and his dedication to his country was evident throughout his life. His love for adventure was matched only by his passion for hunting, fishing, his love of Corvettes and his beloved custom-made motorcycle. Gary will be remembered for his kind and adventurous spirit, his loyalty to family, and his unwavering strength. Career as an over the road truck driver for 33+ years with Teamsters Local 200. His love for the Northwoods became his resting place. A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at a later date. Gary’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Rest in peace, Gary. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Waukesha Elks Lodge on Sunday, February 16, 2025 from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM.
