Darlene L. Poupart

On January 10, 2018, Darlene Lois (DeBaets) Poupart walked through the valley comforted by God and unafraid. Relatives that passed before Darlene include her father, Albert L. DeBaets, Sr; mother, Lois J. (Walck) DeBaets; brother, Albert L. DeBaets, Jr and grandparents Lillian (Ladentine) DeBaets, Louis DeBaets, Elsie (Kuehn) Schwartz, Frederick E. Walck and William A. Schwartz. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, David G. Poupart, Sr; Aunt, LaNita (Auntie) Hobbs; son, David (Colleen) Poupart, Jr.; daughter, Julie (David) Poupart; grandchildren, Maya, Robert, Leia, Jenna, Jon, Sarah, Samantha, CJ, and Stefanie; great-grandchildren, Elle, Bentley, Cameron, Aubri and Jonathon. Darlene began her life in Chicago, Illinois. Much of her youth was spent in activities at the family church, St. Nicolai. Here she was baptized, confirmed, taught Sunday school, married David, and baptized Dave, Jr. and Julie. Darlene and David moved to David’s hometown of Lac du Flambeau in 1977. While David worked at Simpson Electric Co., Darlene worked at the Lac du Flambeau Public School for 32 years teaching reading and arithmetic to countless Lac du Flambeau youth, whilst also keeping an eye on her children and grandchildren who attended the Lac du Flambeau Public School. Darlene and David enjoyed life by traveling with family and friends, golfing, bowling, and participating in the local American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary, helping to bring the statewide conference to Lac du Flambeau. Profits from sales and other charitable activities went towards numerous causes especially the Wounded Warrior Project, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Darlene was the “light of the world, like a city on the mountain glowing for all to see. Don’t have your light under a basket--let your light shine.” Mom, Grandmother, Aunt Darlene, and Mrs. Poupart saw this light in her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and students. Darlene influenced all to shine brightly, like the many lighthouses she loved to collect. All who knew her know that she “lives in the house of the Lord forever!” Memorial services were held at the Community Presbyterian Church in Lac du Flambeau, WI. On Monday January 15, 2018. In lieu of flowers, donations will be made to the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Oncology and local VFW. Bolger Cremation and Funeral Services of Woodruff and Minocqua is serving the family.
