Bernice G. Anderson

Bernice “Bern” Anderson entered eternal peace on Easter Sunday, April 5 2015, at Stone Crest Residence in Wausau, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. Bern was born on February 15, 1929 in Wausau to the late Martin and Erna (nee Zunker) Buttke. She was a graduate of Wausau High School and had been employed by Employers Mutual Insurance Company. On June 6, 1953 she married Vernon (Andy) Anderson at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Wausau. They enjoyed 49 years of marriage until Vern’s death in 2002. Bern was a lifelong member of St. Stephen Church. She was active in the church choir, Sunday school, Leah Circle, and Jolly Friends. She enjoyed gardening, crafting, and traveling, especially to Alaska. She was a loyal Brewer and Packer fan. Bern made many friends while residing at Forest Park Village and The Gardens Assisted Living. She always enjoyed sharing laughter and good times with her cousins, family, and friends over the years. Bern found great joy in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bern is survived by her loving daughters, Kathryn (Steve) Vann of Minneapolis, Jayne (Mike) Sisterman of Rothschild, Diane (Ralph) Kronenwetter of Wausau, and her sister Phyllis (Russ) Tauferner of River Falls. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Laura (Dan) Wurz, Anne (Tyler) Constable, Jill (Luke) Yelton, and John Kronenwetter and great grandchildren, Kaylynn Kronenwetter and Jack Constable. She is further survived by her step grandson, Michael (Lisa) Vann and step great grandchildren, Xander and Katrina Vann. The Funeral Service to celebrate Bern’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2015, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 512 McClellan Street, Wausau with Rev. Craig Swenson officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Entombment will be at Restlawn Memorial Park. Bern’s family would like to thank the staff at Forest Park Village, The Gardens, and especially Stone Crest Residence. Bern was blessed with wonderful, compassionate care from the Stone Crest staff and also from the staff and volunteers of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice. Memorials may be given in Bern’s name to Stone Crest – Homme Home Foundation or Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.”
