Wilma J. Hunter

Wilma Joyce Hunter, 83 passed away Friday August 29, 2014 at her residence One Penny Place in Woodruff, Wisconsin. Wilma was born April 1, 1931 in Woodruff Wisconsin the second child and first daughter of Lois and George Servi. Wilma went to grade school and high school in Woodruff. She later married and moved to Lake Tomahawk, Wisconsin where she helped run the Gift and Tackle Shop. Wilma worked at Winona Knits in Minocqua for a few years before venturing out to open up her own store, Through the Grapevine in Minocqua. She also worked a few years at Hillstead Vitamin in Woodruff. She finished up her working career at Northern Merchandise before retiring. Wilma loved Woodruff and eventually moved back to her roots. Wilma was active in her community serving as treasurer of The New-Tom Sno- Fleas for years, was involved in The Lake Tomahawk Women’s American Legion and a member of the Methodist Church in Minocqua for years. She loved the outdoors by taking walks in the summer months and cross country skiing during the snow season. Her roots were strongly embedded in Woodruff Wisconsin where she would happily share her knowledge and history of her hometown with anyone who wanted to know. She was known for her love of the Green Bay Packers. Wilma was preceded in death by her father, George Servi, her mother, Lois Servi, and her brother, Gerald Servi. She is survived by three sons, Randy and Cindy Hunter of Minocqua, Wisconsin, John and Deb Hunter of Hazlehurst, Wisconsin, and Steve "T-bone" and Judi Hunter of Minocqua, Wisconsin and one daughter Patty Hunter of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is survived by her seven grandchildren, Cory Hunter of Duluth, Minnesota, Kyle Hunter of Woodruff, Wisconsin, Brett Hunter, Hazlehurst, Wisconsin, Shannon Korrer, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Grant Hunter, of Grafton Wisconsin, Derek Brown, of Minocqua Wisconsin, and Michelle Brown Plunkett, of Tomah, Wisconsin. She is also survived by two sisters, Natalie and Chuck Pettit of Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin, and Sonja and Ed Burgoyne of Jacksonville, Florida. A special thank you to all of her doctors and nurses of Marshfield Clinic and Howard Young Memorial, along with all the staff and residence at One Penny Place in Woodruff. She will be greatly missed by many. The memorial gathering will be held Wednesday September 3 at Bolger Funeral Home in Woodruff from 5:00PM until 7:00PM.
