Miriam E.

Miriam E. Roe, 83 of Woodruff died February 16, 2013 at Ministry St. Clare's Hospital, Weston. She was born February 16, 1930 in O'Fallon, Illinois to Harry and Evelyn Greene. Upon graduating from O'Fallon Township High School, she attended Washington University graduating with a BA degree in Interior Design. Miriam worked in interior design in St. Louis. On October 15, 1955 she married Lloyd (Bud) Roe Jr. Miriam was involved in the Parent Teacher Association at North Glendale School helping set up a new library and running the Fun Fair among other things. She was a Girl Scout leader for 5 years taking the troops on many camping trips. She worked at Wydown Jr. High School prior to moving to New Jersey. In New Jersey she worked as an executive assistant for AT&T until moving to Woodruff in 1990. Miriam volunteered at HYMC in the medical records department for several years. She was also the HYMC scholarship chairperson. In addition she was the "picture lady" for the Lakeland Children's Arts Program. Miriam loved traveling, golfing and anything that involved her grandchildren. She was the ultimate care giver. Miriam was an active member of the United Methodist Church of the Pines where she served on several committees. She also served on the Virgin Pines II condominium board. She was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority and the Minocqua Country Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd (Bud) Roe Jr. and her brother, Virgil Greene. She is survived by her son, Guy (Katie) Roe of Minocqua; her daughter, Leslie of Eden Prairie, MN; grandchildren, Andy (Mary) Roe of Madison and Molly Roe of Brattleboro, Vermont. She is further survived by the apple of her eye, her great granddaughter Mackenzie Roe of Madison; sister, Joyce Zimmerman and many other relatives and dear friends. A celebration of Miriam's life will be Friday, February 22 at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church of the Pines with visitation starting at 10:00 AM. A reception will follow the service at Norwood Pines. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the United Methodist Church of the Pines Endowment Fund, P.O. Box 144, Minocqua.
