Mark A. Goebel

Mark Anthony Goebel, of St. Germain, passed away peacefully at his home on Dec. 27, 2022, with his wife Jacki by his side. Mark was born July 20, 1956, to Eugene Robert and Mary Ann (nee Hermanns) Goebel in Dotyville. He grew up in The Holyland. He was owner/operator of two taverns, one in Johnsburg and one in Maryville. He loved for people to get together and have a fun time. He worked construction and eventually left for Florida to run an employment staffing outfit. He moved back to Wisconsin, residing in Kaukauna and became the owner of Fox Valley Staffing in Appleton. He decided to sell the business and retire to his vacation home in St. Germain in 2019. That summer he met Jacqueline, they were wed Sept. 18, 2021. Mark loved woodworking, creating furniture, décor and crafts. His house is full of beautiful creations he made. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent hours fishing and riding his motorcycle. Even though he never served, honoring and supporting veterans was his life’s passion, and he pursued it with everything he had. He joined the Patriot Guard Riders of Wisconsin (PGR) in 2011, soon becoming the Assistant State Captain. He was responsible for creating Operation Christmas Angel, a program providing Christmas gifts to thousands of active duty and veteran families. Mark expanded a program at Union Grove to become Share the Warmth with over 1,000 coats, boots and winter gear collected and distributed to veterans in recovery programs. Mark helped expand Help on the Homefront program to reestablish a new life for hundreds of veterans that completed the veterans housing and recovery programs. The PGR provided furnishings and all the essentials to start a new life. He led emergency relocations for families after the passing of a veteran and three home fires, where the PGR also provided new clothes and schoolbooks and supplies. He was instrumental in the donation of the trailer from Aaron and Lana Geurts with photos recognizing over 400 service men and women and drove in in dozens of parades and events. There were many things he, in his humbleness, didn't want recognition for ... Mark was preceded in death by his parents, son Zachary Douglas, and godfather Fr. Mel Hermanns. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; daughter Stephanie (Terry) Albrecht; son, Joshua Casper; brothers, Douglas (Janet) and William (Jodie); sisters, Katherine (Kenneth) Andrew and Sheila (Craig) Lefeber; his grandchildren Theodore, Charlotte, Penelope and Annabelle; his godson Joseph; and many loving nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held in Johnsburg in spring.
