James P Konopacki ‘Kono’ BOULDER JCT- James Patrick Konopacki, age 69, of Boulder Jct., passed away on Friday January 27, 2017 at Season’s of Life Hospice, surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born on September 30, 1947 in Stevens Point, WI, the son of Benjamin and Evelyn (nee’ Zakrzewski ) Konopacki. Jim attended St Michaels School and Messmer High School in Milwaukee, WI. He was called to service by the US Army during the Vietnam War serving as a Medic in Germany. Upon completion of his service, he attended MATC in Milwaukee where he earned his Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. During this time, he married Barbara J Selke and they spent the next 49+ years raising their three children. Jim’s professional career started at Square-D, and continued on to Allis-Chalmers, A-C Equipment Services, Siemens, ReGenCo and Toshiba Power Systems, where he was a Purchasing and Logistics Manager when he retired in January of 2013. Jim was a kind, gentle giant who loved his family. He was always willing to help out a friend or a stranger. Jim wore many hats. He never left a job unfinished. He believed strongly in being involved in his community. Jim was a proud and active member of St Anne’s Catholic Church, the Boulder Jct. Lions, the Boulder Jct. Community Foundation, Friends of the Boulder Jct. Library and Friends of the Boulder Jct. Chamber. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (nee’ Selke) Konopacki of Boulder Jct; and his three wonderful children- Kristine (Konopacki) Karrels (Jon Buerger) of Waukesha, John Konopacki (Carrie) of Waukesha, Katie (Konopacki) Crandall (Joe Pijan) of Arbor Vitae and his beloved dog, Gracie; his loving six grandchildren – Josh (Becky) Karrels of Lansing, MI, Matthew Karrels of Waukesha/Platteville, Jake & Jodie Konopacki of Waukesha, and Abby & Brooke Crandall of Arbor Vitae; his siblings, Don (Carol) Simonis, Patricia Heyden, Bob (Iris) Simonis, Ron Konopacki, along with many loving nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family is asking for donations to be made in honor of Jim to either the Boulder Jct. Lions or the Boulder Jct. Community Foundation. The family would like to thank all of the amazing support, compassion and care given throughout his journey from Waukesha, Avanti Health and Rehabilitation, Marshfield Clinic, Howard Young Medical Center, Season’s of Life, the Boulder Jct. community and all of their amazing family and friends. Visitation will be held at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Boulder Jct., on Saturday February 11. Family only visitation will be held from 10 - 10:30, open visitation from 10:30 - 11:50 with mass to begin at 12:00. Following mass we will continue to celebrate Jim’s life at the Boulder Jct. Community Center with a luncheon.
