Harold S. Haling

Harold Stanley Haling (Butch, Squid) 68, of Arbor Vitae Wisconsin, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Friendly Village in Rhinelander Wisconsin on Thursday, July 21, 2016. Harold was born on March 26, 1948 in Tomahawk son of Raymond G. and Patricia Ann Haling (Schuminski). Harold spent the majority of his school years in Arbor Vitae – Woodruff grade school and Lakeland Union High School but graduated high school in Loves Park Illinois. He worked for Barber Colman’s in Rockford IL driving back to Arbor Vitae for the weekends. The desire to live in Arbor Vitae won out and Harold moved back. He worked for Island City Dray, Sedlaks and Vanderhoff before Roger Pukall called him and asked him to come back to work. He worked for Pukall Lumber for 41 years. His ancestors’ homesteaded on an island in Trout Lake and he wanted to raise his family near there and have his children attend AVW school. On July 26, 1969 he married Jill S. Tischendorf, daughter of William O. and Martha (Nielsen) Tischendorf at Calvary Lutheran Church, Minocqua Wisconsin. They have two children. Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, canoeing. He especially enjoyed deer hunting locally, fishing trips to Canada, turkey hunting in Potosi WI, duck and goose hunting trips to North Dakota with his boys. He was a volunteer fireman for the Arbor Vitae Fire Department for 30 years enjoyed participating in the competitive water fights with the local fire departments. Butch had a big heart, helped anyone who needed it and brought warmth, smiles and laughter to everyone he met. Harold is survived by his wife, Jill Haling, sons Christiaan (Toni) and Jonathan Haling; grandsons, Remy and Talon Haling; brothers, Raymond Haling and Perry (Dawnne) Dehne; sisters, Diane (Ken) Donner, Kathy Dehne, Renee Dehne, Margorie Robinson; sister n law Sue Haling and many many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Haling and Patricia Wright; and brother Stanford Haling. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Bolger Funeral Home - Woodruff Chapel. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Minocqua, with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Garden in Arbor Vitae.
