Doris Kumbier

Doris Kumbier passed away on November 22, 2010. She was born July 5, 1924 in Wausau, WI. She was an amazing woman who as a child of the depression, overcame many struggles over the last 86 years and always did so with a smile on her face. She brought love and kindness to all who knew and loved her. We will be comforted by the beautiful memories and love she left behind. Doris was married to the late William R. Kumbier Jr on September 21, 1946. They married at the Our Lady of the Holy Cross seminary where Doris was the first student to marry in the church. She was very well known throughout the Northwoods Community, which they always considered their home. Doris and her husband were quite the entrepreneurs and had many businesses throughout the Woodruff/Minocqua community which included, a liquor store, ice business, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel newspaper delivery, and also sanitation removal. While running all of these businesses Doris also worked at Helterhoff?s Shoes and took care of her husband during his illness along with four beautiful children. After the passing of her late husband, Doris also worked at Book World in downtown Minocqua in which she retired after 20+ years of dedicated service. In later years, she volunteered at St Mathias Thrift Store and the Dr Kate Museum. Doris was an amazing mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is mourned and survived by her children Michael T. Kumbier (wife Frances), Mary Neuberger (husband Joseph), Peter C. Kumbier (wife Jo Ann), Patrick W. Kumbier (wife Kim), her 9 grandchildren Victoria Connery, Brigitte Parsons (husband Benjamin), Patricia Holschbach, Christina Watson (husband Lawrence), LaVonne Kumbier (fiance Arthur Portz), Theresa Kumbier, W. Robert Kumbier, Richard Kumbier, Kayla Kumbier, and 4 Great-Grandchildren, Virginia Leigh Parsons, Audrey Parsons, Benjamin Parsons, Tyler Watson and sister Mary Lou Dowdle (husband Jerry). She was preceded in death by her husband William Kumbier, Jr, parents, Henry Peters and Viola Peters, brother Henry ?Bud? Peters, and daughter-in-law Joy Ann Kumbier. Doris? Memorial Services were held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Monday, November 29, 2010 .
