Donald A. Andersen

Donald Allen Andersen, beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother, and friend, passed away on February 17, 2024, at the age of 67 in Sayner, Wis. He was born on November 17, 1956, in Racine, Wis., to Edwin and Marie Andersen. After graduating from Case High School, Don enlisted and served in the Navy from 1975-1979 on the USS Saratoga as an electrical repairman. He was stationed in Mayport, Fla., and sailed the Mediterranean Sea. Don was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 430 since December 1980. He completed his apprenticeship with IBEW in 1984 and then worked as a journeyman wireman for Rewald Electric from 1979 - 2012, and then worked for PPC Industries, Premier Power, and MJ Electric. He was united in marriage to Patricia on July 8, 1994, and shared many wonderful memories that will be cherished forever. In 2016, Don and Pat moved to the Northwoods where Don lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, softball, snowmobiling, Harley rides and spending time with his friends. He loved coaching and watching his children play youth sports. He then moved into the proud grandpa role, watching and playing with his grandchildren. Don is survived by his wife, Patricia Andersen, his son and daughter, Christopher (Jennifer) Andersen and Kelli (Jordan) Laufenberg; his stepsons, Jacob (Elizabeth) Schmalfeldt and Justin (Heather) Schmalfeldt; and his grandchildren, Maddox and Merrick Laufenberg, Olivia and Isabel Andersen, Hunter and Hannah Schmalfeldt; his siblings, Dave (Claudia) Andersen, Sue (Wayne) Snow, Dan (Debbie) Andersen, and Doug (Diane) Andersen. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Marie Andersen; his in-laws, William and Joann Ebbers; his sister, Karen Hall; and his brother-in-law, Joseph Ebbers. Don was a man of integrity and humor, who touched the lives of many. He was known for his hard work and zest for life. He was a firm believer in working hard and playing hard. But most of all he will be remembered for being a loving husband, caring father, and enthusiastic grandpa. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Plum Lake Volunteer Fire Department or Barnstormers Snowmobile Club would be appreciated. A memorial service is scheduled to celebrate Don’s life on Saturday, February 24th at Daniel’s Family Funeral Home in Burlington, Wis. at 2:00 PM. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home with burial to follow.
