Carol L Ave'Lallemant

Carol Louise Ave’Lallemant (nee Ketter) December 18, 1928 – October 31, 2025 Carol was born on December 18, 1928 with a twin sister, Phyllis, the first infants born by C-Section in Milwaukee. Carol attended Shorewood High School in the Milwaukee area. She went on to earn a nursing degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison campus. She worked many years in the nursing profession helping countless people in need. After college, in 1952, she married William (Bill) Ave’Lallemant and our family officially began. Carol and Bill had 3 sons: Steve (Jane), Tim (Luanne), and Ted (Cindie); followed by 8 granddaughters: Laura (Ladd), Rachel (Matt), Megan (Chris), Leah, Kaitlyn, Claire (Koran), Christina (TJ), and Britta (Michael); and 7 great-grandchildren: Harrison, Harper, Analise, Leo, Blaire, Teddi, and Collins. What a great life Carol enjoyed with her family. Besides her number one priority of loving on each of us, Carol made time for many things to include: The Pikettes, Book Club, purple loosestrife control on the lakes earning her the award of “Invasive Crusader,” catching a nice muskie, making sure all of our many golden retrievers were fed, and a dedication to church and daily devotionals. One of her most amazing skills was knitting. She could knit sweaters that put L.L. Bean to shame! Some are still in operation. Carol’s grandchildren echo memories of their grandma’s bedtime love, gently tickling backs while singing lullabies, especially “Tell Me Why.” And who would forget her eggy pancakes in the morning? Total relaxation was sipping a dark beer during a sunny cruise on the “Queen Mary.” Though there are many “chapters” in her life, time spent at the lake stands out as the best of times. Each summer, the station wagon was packed to the ceiling for the annual, 3-month stay at our one-room rustic cabin on Turner Lake west of Minocqua. Rustic, in that there was no electricity or plumbing. While Bill frequently returned to work his job in Milwaukee, Carol, the boys, and Grandma Ketter remained at the lake enjoying days filled with swimming, fishing, sun-bathing, water skiing (she did so at age 70), blueberry picking, sharing life with her sister’s family, leading the pack on an annual “endurance swim” across the lake, and on and on. Imagine that simple life; no TV, no radio, Coleman lanterns at night, playing cards, writing letters, all set to the gentle serenade of wind in the leaves, frogs croaking in the swamp, loon calls, and the soft lapping of waves against the shore. You lived well, mom. 96 years old. Nicely done. Our guess is dad met you at the Gate with one of his signature Whiskey Manhattans! We will forever hear both your voices on the lake breeze. Thank you Milestone Senior Living of Woodruff for your excellent and compassionate care. Carol passed away very peacefully. We felt how much you cared. Carol’s family plans a service sometime in January to be held in Park Falls at Carol and Bill’s church, Christ the Servant. Once finalized, the date and details will be sent out via texts, emails, and social media.
