Barbara C. Hilleque

Barb Colette Hilleque, 67, of Minocqua passed away on July 24, 2014. She was born on Feb. 7, 1947 in Juneau County, WI to Eleanor Olga Debovik and Fred Steinmetz. Barb was a 1965 graduate of LaCrosse Aquinas High School and then attended and graduated from UW-Madison. She married Woodrow N. Hilleque on June 28, 1974 at St. Patrick’s Church in Madison, WI. Barbara loved to be with her family and being around her grandchildren. She loved playing bingo with friends/family, reading her books and doing puzzles. Barb was a very active and a cherished member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Her many activities at church included Circle of Women, Secular Franciscans and the Divine Mercy Prayer Group. She served as a Eucharistic Minister at Mass and helped with vacation bible school, community table, prayer shawl group, compassion fund, bible study and quilting group. In addition, her other community involvements were NATH-Northwoods Alliance for Temporary Housing (Frederick Place), Kiwanis, Lakeland Food Pantry and the Northwoods Wildlife Center. She dedicated her life to serving others. Barb will be greatly missed by her family and many, many friends who loved her. She is survived by her husband Woody, three sons, Scott (Rebecca) of Dripping Springs, TX; Brian and Matt, both of Round Rock, TX; a daughter Amanda Hilleque of Boston, MA; two granddaughters Ava and Cami of Dripping Springs, TX. She is further survived by five sisters, Rose (Mike) Bingham of Wis Dells; Sue (John) Hort, Wausau; Rita (Alex) Lennox of Orangeville, Ontario, Canada; Mary Ann (Larry) Simonis of Green Bay; Pat (Bob) Jones of Big Lake, AK; a brother Fred (Shirley) Steinmetz of Logansport, IN.; sister-in-law Prudence Pierce of Lake Mills, WI; a step sister Lenore Gentry of LaCrosse, WI and many nieces and nephews. Barb was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law Mildred Anderson of Montello, WI. Visitation will be Tuesday July 29 from 5-7 PM at the Bolger Funeral Home-Woodruff Chapel and again on Wed. July 30 from 10-11 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, Woodruff, WI. The Funeral Mass will begin at 11 AM on Wed. at Holy Family Catholic Church with a lunch to follow.
