Justin S. Schmidt

Justin Steven Schmidt, 43, of Minocqua, is finally at rest and free from the constraints of this world. He left us to join eternity on September 13, 2023. Justin was born in Wisconsin Rapids and graduated High School in 1998. His talent for art was evident from early on. As a teenager, he started to design signs and worked for Rapids Signs. One of his many accomplishments was that he was asked to design and build a snow castle sculpture in Rapids Park for the South Wood County Humane Society in 2010. He ended up traveling to Nevada for education in chainsaw carving and worked in sign making out there as well. He loved the mountains and skiing, but eventually returned back home to Wisconsin. In 2016, he married the love of his life, Dan Diedrich in Herbster, Wisconsin. In 2018, they moved to Minocqua where Justin started his own successful business, All Signs. Justin had a bright personality, was always willing to share and was always the one to ‘make the best of things’ with his positive attitude on life. His talent in making signs is evident throughout Minocqua and the surrounding communities. His musical talent and love of Bluegrass will forever be remembered by all who knew him. Justin enjoyed life to the fullest and we’re sure he’s brightening the spirits of those in eternity. He will be sorely missed by those who loved him most here on earth, especially Daniel Diedrich, the love of his life. Justin is survived by his husband, Daniel; dad, Steven Schmidt; mother, Mary (Dewy) Callagan; sisters, Jillian (Wayne) Mitchell, and Jessica (Jesse) Nelson; grandmothers, Marcia Schmidt and Francis Eggett. He is further survived by his married family—Alan & Mary Griepentrog, Brian & Lisa Mikkelson, Jeffrey & Sarah Diedrich, Ryan & DeAnn Griepentrog; and by many nieces and nephews (who loved him and will miss his great sense of humor and fun). Justin was preceded in death his brother, Nathan; grandfathers, Harry (Bubs) Schmidt and William Eggett Sr; and brothers-in-law, Ronald Diedrich and Corey Griepentrog So let us not weep, Justin always loved life, now he’s free of this one and waiting for us to join him in the next. Those wishing to join in the celebrating of Justin’s life are welcome to join his family on October 7, 2023 at Bolger Funeral Home – Woodruff from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at which time a visitation will be held.
